Get to know the team at our Massachusetts Ave location

Our physical therapists are licensed professionals with extensive knowledge and training in anatomy, physiology and bio-mechanics of the body. They will provide comprehensive, individual and goal-oriented treatment with emphasis on bio-mechanical evaluations, manual techniques and active patient participation.
With years of experience in the field our expertise can help take you from injury to prevention to enhancement of movement. We strive to reach the highest potential that allows for an independent, active and robust lifestyle.

Sarah Weimer, PT, DPT

Sarah grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. She graduated in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Rehabilitative Science from Slippery Rock University. After earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University in 2009, she moved to Washington D.C. In 2011, Sarah became certified in Functional Dry Needling and has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Sarah’s interest in Physical Therapy developed through her own experiences and injuries sustained as an athlete. Her interest in full-body health and return to full function grew when she worked with Wounded Warriors returning from the war in Afghanistan through her clinical rotation at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. Outside of physical therapy, Sarah plays in multiple sports leagues for basketball and volleyball. She is also an avid runner, completing half and full marathons. Her passion for sports rehabilitation allows her to connect with patients that strive to enhance their performance and ensure pain-free activity. Sarah is also an Assistant Instructor for Functional Dry Needling physical therapy continuing education courses. 

Kristi Cekander, PT, DPT, OCS

Kristi was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from Hope College with a degree in Exercise Science. Her interest in physical therapy stems from her time volunteering at a rehabilitation hospital during her years in undergrad where she experienced first hand the positive impact a therapist can have on a patient and a community. Kristi then went on to receive her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Grand Valley State University. Kristi has received certifications in LSVT Big as well as functional dry needling. Her primary clinical interests are sports rehab and orthopedic medicine although she also has experience in inpatient acute care. Outside of work Kristi enjoys reading, hiking, tennis, running, and spending time with friends and family.


Victoria DiRenzo, PT, DPT

Victoria grew up in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. She takes great pride in helping others and knew she wanted to be a Physical Therapist since early adolescence. Victoria graduated in from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and continued her schooling at Pitt earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
 
Victoria is certified in Functional Dry Needling and has spent her clinical years practicing in Outpatient Orthopedics. As a former athlete and avid runner herself Victoria enjoys treating athletes, runners, and weekend warriors alike. Victoria's treatment approach focuses on identifying movement-based impairments and creating goal-oriented exercise suitable for a patient's lifestyle and/or skill level. She utilizes a combination of manual therapy and hands on training to help her patients achieve optimal function with desired activities/hobbies, sports, and day-to-day tasks.

Melissa Hersch, PT, DPT

Melissa received her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Health Studies and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Ithaca College, where she was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and received the Dean’s award for academic success and leadership. Melissa completed clinical internships in outpatient, inpatient rehab, and acute care settings, but found her passion working with orthopedic and sports injuries. 

As a competitive gymnast throughout her youth, Melissa witnessed first hand the impact of physical therapy on recovery and safe return to sport for not only herself, but her teammates as well. Through her own experience as a patient, and then later as a PT aide, Melissa developed a love for the science of movement. 
Melissa’s treatment approach focuses on addressing her patients’ goals and optimizing their functional mobility for long term injury prevention. 

She enjoys getting to know each patient to create individualized treatment plans that fit with their lifestyle. Melissa recently relocated from Wilton, Connecticut and loves exploring DC and the surrounding areas. In her spare time, she also likes to exercise, hike, and spend time with friends and family. 

Michael Lober, PT, DPT

Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He grew up a competitive gymnast, then transitioned to competitive cheerleading, where he ultimately joined the co-ed University of Maryland cheerleading team.
Following his undergraduate studies, Michael continued his schooling at The University of St. Augustine, in St. Augustine, FL, where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
 
Michael completed clinical internships involving a variety of demographics and populations in the outpatient setting. Michael takes an evidence-based approach to treating his patients, ensuring to address their needs and goals to optimize their overall function. While striving to provide the best patient care possible, he enjoys getting to know his patients and fostering a good attitude toward physical therapy.
 
Currently, Michael is an active participant in Washington, DC sports, where he is a player on a Stonewall kickball team that strives to promote inclusivity and being active. His team gathers donations multiple times a year to donate to a variety of local charities in the Washington, DC area.

Madison Schnell , PT, DPT

Madison was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Miami University (OH) with a degree in Kinesiology. She moved to the DC area to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at The George Washington University.

Madison’s interest in the field sparked from her passion of exercise,
medicine, and helping others. Throughout her clinical year of PT school,
Madison gained experience treating a wide array of orthopedic diagnoses in multiple different settings across the country.
 
In her free time, Madison enjoys staying active by running, lifting
weights, and attending workout classes within the community. She also
enjoys exploring DC neighborhoods, trying new restaurants (and keeping track of them all), and cooking at home.

Katherine Kelly , PT, DPT

Katharine grew up in Philadelphia, and came to the DMV to receive her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Here she participated in internships with local outpatient Physical Therapy clinics, conducted research regarding the impacts of exercise on aging and brain health, and taught youth dance classes. She then continued her schooling at The George Washington University to pursue her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Katharine’s interest in movement science stemmed from a long history in dance and sport. She further became invested in Physical Therapy when volunteering at inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, where she saw the impact that a Physical Therapist can have on a wide variety of populations.

 Katharine has completed a diverse range of clinical internships including outpatient settings with a variety of demographics and abilities, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, and pediatric in/outpatient. She uses this experience with varying populations to best educate patients and to create plans of care that relate directly to each unique individuals needs and goals.

In her free time Katharine enjoys long walks and runs to find hidden gems around the city, reading, and feeding the people around her.
